How long does an awning last?
Generally speaking, they will last from 5-15 years. They may be warranted for 5 years from the manufacturer, depending on which fabric you choose to use. With proper cleaning and maintenance, your shade feature should last for a very long time. Our aluminum frames are guaranteed to last for a lifetime.
What colors are available?
We offer over 500 different striped and solid colors.
How do I keep my awning clean?
You should follow our awning cleaning guidelines to know when you need to have a professional come out to perform maintenance work. We recommend that you hose off your awning or canopy at least once a month to rid it of dirt and dust. You should have us perform a deep cleaning on the fabric or canvas every 2-3 years to get rid of any mildew stains. It's very important that you do NOT have your fabric dry cleaned or placed in a dryer.
Does the fabric color I choose affect how hot it is under my awning?
As indicated by scientific studies, the darker a color is, the warmer it will be underneath. However, some of our fabrics have a dark color on the outside but their color underneath may be light. Overall, the type of fabric you choose will play the biggest role in determining how hot or cool it will be underneath the shade feature.
Are awnings waterproof? Can I stay out under it during inclement weather?
Our fabrics are not waterproof, but they are water-repellent. This means that you would be able to sit underneath the overhang in a rainstorm and be dry. Water will be whisked away from the surface.
What are the support frames made from? How durable are they?
Metal support frames we offer are constructed from either galvanized steel or aluminum materials. These frames are guaranteed by our company to last a lifetime. They are incredibly durable and we recommend you routinely maintain them so they stay looking beautiful for years to come.
How long does it take to build once I place an order?
The number of shade features that you order will determine how long it takes to build your custom order. For some canvas or fabric varieties, you may receive your order in only three weeks. If you have questions about your custom awning order, please call us.
What should be done with a retractable awning in the winter?
You should roll it back in the winter time. You can also remove the loose hanging valance and place it in storage.
Why would I want my retractable awning motorized?
They provide a little more simplicity and convenience to your life. All you have to do is flip a switch and your fabric or canvas will roll out or roll up on its own.
Are there any other weather conditions I should be concerned about for my retractable device?
If it's raining heavily, you should roll your retractable device back to prevent the water from pooling up on the top of it.
